Welcome

This website offers support and additional information for Reiner Keller's new and expanded perspective on discourse theory and analysis, the Sociology of Knowledge Approach to Discourse (SKAD). By combing elements of traditional discourse theory (e.g., as practiced by Michel Foucault) with major elements of nearly a century of developments that form contemporary Sociology of Knowledge, SKAD offers a theoretically well-founded yet practical approach towards actually performing successful analyses of a wide range of discourses. Keller's extensive practical experience in the field of discourse research has allowed him to show the advantages of SKAD as a method that is compatible with numerous research questions and problems in sociology, cultural, political and social studies and related disciplines.

Hello, loved this nook but would like to learn more. Is "The Sociology of Knowledge Approach to Discourse" still due to be published? Would love to read it sometime soon!

Dear Katherine, dear jespis,

please excuse this delayed response (especially to Katherine). Many thanks for your interest and encouragement. The SKAD book is still in translation, I am sorry about that. Hopefully it will be out in Spring 2017. I will be adding a few papers on the publications list shortly (some English papers too). There is more work in English in preparation, check back in the next few weeks for more articles and info.

Just let me add that there will be a SKAD workshop in Leicester (RC 33 ISA, September), a SKAD workshop and symposium in Leuwen (Belgium, February 2017), a SKAD spring school in German in March 2017, a SKAD workshop at the ICQI conference in Urbana-Champaign in May 2017 and a English late summer school on SKAD at Augsburg (Germany)in September 2017.

Thank you for your patience, we have been quite overwhelmed with the feedback that SKAD has received so far. Please let me know about your SKAD work or start you own conversation on SKAD here in the comments!

Thank you for response!

I'm at the beginning (more or less) of writing my doctoral thesis. My interest was firstly connected with Discourse theory (like Laclau and Mouffe and Foucault). I also lead sociology seminar about Berger's and Luckmann's book The Social Construction of Reality, and I have been intrigued with similarities with Discourse theory in their work. So I found SCAD approach quite interesting in my approach.
